Back into Writing
I started to write in journals in fifth grade. My Sunday School teacher encouraged us to "talk to God" through our writing, so I bought a pink flowered notebook (to match my Bible) and didn't stop writing in a journal of some sort until five years ago.
You might wonder what happened five years ago that made me stop writing? Well, I had my first born. He was a little tiny skinny boy named Paul who popped out and basically didn't stop crying for eight LOOOOOONG months. He was cute and overwhelming and exhausting and confusing... so my journaling habit suddenly became one of those quick "see ya later real soon" goodbyes, where you hope you'll see someone again soon and just give them a short impersonal hug, but in reality, you're not really sure if you will ever experience life with them again.
I have always loved writing. I'm not particularly awesomely amazing at it, but as an introverted person it readjusts me and reminds me and recenters me. My emotions run deep but I am often not able to express them, which will be surprising to almost anyone reading this blog who knows me.
Anyway, I'm now going to write a blog and see if I can get it back.
Recently, I signed up for a Brene Brown online course, and there was one quote I loved.
“The only unique contribution that we will ever make in this world will be born of our creativity.”
-- Dr. Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection
This quote is what catapulted me back into writing.
